A 2 year old male child visited clinic crying. According to parents, child was unable to move his right hand following a jerk when his mother pulled his arm while playing in park.Child was in extreme pain and was crying.
It was Pulled Elbow(Nursemaid’s elbow), needs careful examination and history.
With gentle manipulation, it was reduced successfully and child became playful with full movements of his right hand. It was like miracle for parents.
I usually get 1-2 child per week with pulled elbow, No X-ray is required to diagnose it but educating parents is a must to avoid recurrence.
Never pull your child from wrist or lift from wrist.
